Week 10

Our 1º session this week was dedicate an a team activity of Homage by  Nadine Gordimer, this was different to the others authors activities because this was more about interpretation or analysis of the dialogues because some of its were implicit.

For example:

The word dyed means: To change the color of clothes or hair

 I think that was a really good activity of comprehensive reading and even if it was not to long had it grade of complex

For our 2º session we took a test about our book "English as a Global Language" was kind of the activity that you have to understand what they don't say.

Week 9

We started the week with a writing contest, we can write about some topics and then leave. I though that I will leave earlier but actually it was a complex exercise. Select a topic is always hard but also it was because we can't use our computers, tablets, or cellphone to check information. I tried to write two stories but I wasn't happy with them. As a positive result of this task, I want to write a story in English to improve in that area.

On Wednesday we watched a video about the evolution of the English Language, how it change and adapt. By the last session of the week, we were able to did the activity without go to the classroom.

Week 8

On the week 8, Rocio and me did an ethics activity. It was really interesting saw different analysis perspectives of the ethics as in the case of Joshua Daspit that he want to analice how culture influence affects the perception of work ethic or the paper of  Susan Linz that analyze if the age of the workers affects more than culture or the work by John Merlac about work ethics as predictor of task persistence.

After that activity I discover myself want to know which others paper take the ethics in different areas that can affect not just the honesty (that is in the area that we usually see it) but also in a productive perspective.

Rocio and me, talk about our points of view about this activity and conclude that work ethics can change around the world so that why have so many areas of analysis.

On Wednesday we read on teams about the "English as a global Language" and did a summary about the most important ideas.

On Thursday, Rocio and me did the Shakespeare activity about his life, work, and the mystery around his life.  I did't know that he invented a lot of words like addiction, arch-villain, assasination, cold-blooded and more.

Week 7

Our university started a new program called "Semana i" in which we have to focus in specific activities or projects so this week I won't post an post as usual.

Week 6

I really like this week because as you well know we only had two sessions.

On the first session we work in our project. The mean idea is how could be if Wuthering Heights happen in 2015.  We created for every character a twitter account so that way all can interact between them.

I did Hindley Earnshaw's twitter, so I had to think like him to personalize it. I started with the eassier that was the location and "Hindley" picture, them with some hobbies as gamble and drink.

So I mention we did't had Wednesday class, but on Thursday we presented our project and of course saw the others I really like the poem because you really have to think and fell as the character.

Week 5

This week the topic of the class was "honesty". We started our week with a movie (that was awesome because nobody want to work on Monday) about honesty, the Tom Cruise's movie "Jerry Maguire" is a moral movie that give you a clear messege about the consequences positives and negatives of be honest. It was the first time that I sew it and I really enjoy the movie.

We also have to read about the honesty and the cost of it, I REALLY like the lectures because sometimes I fell that the people in general think that is necessary be corrupt to have success, and with the lectures we can prove that isn't true.

The Thursday we did a task about different countries where speak English in teams so Israel, Fernando and me try to choose the less known countries as Mauritius or Zumbabwe to learn about them.

Week 4

The last weekend I had a team reunion to did our interview asking for a job. I really like the final result of our work. This Monday we watched and evaluate the videos some of them were really great but I don't like have to evaluate them because is hard to do it with some that you know that is how speak.

This week we also did an activity about Emily Bronte, as usual I did with Rocio. I always try to do it the weekends because I felt that I can do it better and if I already have it in class, go to rest after the work.

In the Emyly's activity I learned  that Emily Bronte was the writer of Wuthering Heights.  She born on 30 July, 1818 in Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Maria Branwell and Patrick Bronte and had five siblings. She had a sad childhood because her mom died when  she was three years old. Emily was a quiet girl probably because of she was influenced by her father and also by religion. Two of her sisters also wrote. Sadly Emily died on 19 December 1848 because of tuberculosis.

We had the task to read the book ( I already had it because of other class, so lucky) and in groups present a free assignment about the book of course.
